Almost to the extreme east in the Riviera, are the Cinque Terre, five villages clinging on overhanging cliffs above the sea, surrounded by olive groves and green hills. A unique landscape in the world that the UNESCO has declared a World Heritage Site.

Monterosso, with the ancient village and the beach is a cultural and bathing destination. Vernazza with the two towers, has steep and very challenging trails that descend to a charming bay. Manarola, a medieval village perched on a spur, and Riomaggiore are connected by the splendid Via dell’Amore (Way of Love), a wonderful walk dug into the rocky walls a stone throw from the waves. |
